New Investment: Holly Health, Personalized & Fully Automated AI Coach for Health Behavior Change

By Daria Pelini & Fabian Scheugenpflug Published on November 30, 2023

We’re excited to announce our investment in Holly Health!

Holly Health was a participant in our Insurtech Batch in Munich last year. As soon as they announced their new funding round, we immediately saw the potential for investment. Lifestyle behavior change has been proven effective in preventing and managing over 70% of long-term conditions. However, the current delivery of these services is flawed. Human-delivered health services struggle to handle the scale of the challenges we face. Existing solutions are resource-limited, expensive, overly focused on weight management, have low retention rates, and lack comprehensive data reporting. Holly Health is addressing this problem by developing a robust IP technology that is supported by solid research and offers automated human-like coaching.

Holly Health is targeting the trillion-dollar chronic disease market, aiming to address a significant problem. Initially, their focus is on the £23m annual primary care market. However, their expansion plans include tapping into the UK insurance, secondary care, and public health sectors, which are collectively worth over £100m annually. Looking ahead, they anticipate entering the US market by 2025, followed by emerging markets in the near future. With such extensive market potential, Holly Health is poised to make a substantial impact in tackling this pressing issue.

Why we’re excited to invest

Daria Pelini, Ventures Associate at Plug and Play, recently shared her enthusiasm for the investment, emphasizing the lack of support people face when trying to improve their long-term physical or mental health. Many individuals, whether they be parents, partners, friends, or colleagues, often find themselves without the necessary assistance despite their desire and efforts to seek it. The main reason for this lack of tailored or 'at-home' support in healthcare is the exorbitant costs and resources required for human-driven coaching services.

Holly Health emerges as the perfect solution to address these pressing issues. With their highly scalable yet personalized behavior change support system, they effectively utilize engaging and scalable technology to cater to each individual's unique health goals, behaviors, and conditions. This approach ensures that their services can be feasibly and affordably delivered to millions of people, making a significant impact on the rising rates of chronic diseases worldwide.
