Plug and Play Japan Kicks off "Global Preparation Course," a Startup Acceleration Program in collaboration with JETRO

TOKYO, JAPAN, September 26 , 2022 -- Plug and Play Japan KK (Based in Shibuya, Tokyo, CEO: Philip Vincent, hereinafter Plug and Play Japan) is pleased to announce that they have been commissioned by the Japan External Trade Organization (Based in Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Nobuhiko Sasaki, hereinafter JETRO) to run the startup acceleration program called "Startup City Acceleration Program, Global Preparation Course" to support Japanese startups aiming to expand their business in a global market.

JETRO, together with the Cabinet Office and the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI), is developing the Startup City Acceleration Program, an overseas expansion support program for startups that assists startups nationwide in their overseas expansion, centered on 8 hub cities of the startup ecosystem selected by the Cabinet Office, with the aim of developing the startup ecosystem in Japan.

In this program, which is designed to collaborate with top overseas accelerators, Plug and Play Japan will support the global expansion of the 50 selected startups by accepting the "Global Preparation Course," which aims to acquire basic knowledge of global expansion and improve motivation to develop overseas markets.

Startups selected for the program will have the opportunity to attend seminars to acquire practical knowledge necessary for overseas expansion, seminars and mentoring to build business models, and networking and matching opportunities with overseas investors and business partners. At the end of the program, Demo Day is scheduled to be held at SHIBUYA QWS on February 22, 2023 to present the results of this acceleration program. Details will be announced shortly.
