FRANKFURT, GERMANY, January 29, 2021 - Plug and Play Europe hosted its first ever virtual Fintech EXPO on January 27 and 28. With more than 2,000 confirmed registrations and an exciting lineup of guest speakers, the global innovation platform showcased future technologies in nine trend topics. These included Wealth & Asset Management, Corporate Banking, Customer Experience, Real Estate, Enterprise 2.0, Diversity, Future of Banking, Payments, and Sustainability.
During the EXPO, the program’s Batch 5 and 6 startups graduated in an event consisting of a new format, a content-driven approach. As well as hosting an array of influential speakers through keynotes and panels, the team at Plug and Play put together an innovative series of mini-documentaries that covered the above-mentioned topics.
Day 1 saw the opening ceremony with remarks from the Mayor of Frankfurt, Uwe Becker, and the State Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Jörg Kukies. There was also a keynote by David Dommel, Fintech lead at Facebook, on personalized advertising in a privacy-first world. Another highlight was the fireside chat between Saeed Amidi, CEO and Founder of Plug and Play, and Bernd Leuckert, Chief Technology, Data and Innovation Officer at Deutsche Bank.
Day 2 was opened by the board member of the Deutsche Bundesbank, Dr. Joachim Wuermeling, and the Managing Director of Frankfurt Main Finance, Hubertus Väth. The EXPO was closed off with the presentation of the Global Innovation Awards and a performance by a Frankfurt-based band.
Plug and Play presents Global Innovation Awards
This year, Plug and Play awarded two corporate partners with the Global Innovation Awards. The recipients of this year’s Global Innovation Awards are UniCredit S.p.a and Raiffeisen Bank International AG. Both institutions proved exceptional motivation and passion during a difficult year and managed to engage in multiple collaborations with fintechs.
