Plug and Play Alberta Announces 11 Startups for Third Cohort of Health Program

CALGARY, ALBERTA, March 16, 2023 - Plug and Play Alberta has announced 11 startups selected for the third batch of their Health program. This program introduces worldwide innovation to the province by facilitating business growth, mentorship, and by carrying out pilots and proof of concepts between the chosen startups and the founding partners of the program.

An advisory panel has been established to jointly select and guide the participating startups, including representatives from Boehringer Ingleheim, Covenant Health, Alberta Blue Cross, Ernst and Young, and Alberta Health Services.

“We have an incredible selection of startups joining us this fall for our third Plug and Play Alberta Health program batch,” said Lindsay Smylie, Director for Plug and Play Alberta. “We’re excited to welcome these exceptional companies paving the way with their innovative health technologies. Over the next three months, these companies will work directly with leading health organizations looking to revolutionize the healthcare sector. We’re proud to be a part of their innovation journey.”

The Plug and Play Health program accelerates startups developing digital health technologies that challenge clinical practices, improve data analytics, and enhance the patient journey across the continuum of care. Since the launch of Plug and Play Alberta in January of last year, 25 startups have graduated from the Health program, resulting in several new partnerships, investments, and business opportunities.

The 3-month program launched on March 6, 2023, and will run until the next Plug and Play Alberta EXPO from May 29-30, 2023 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada which marks the highly anticipated graduation of Plug and Play’s Spring 2023 cohort.
