Plug and Play Alberta Announces 23 Startups for the Fourth Cohort of its Sector Agnostic Program

CALGARY, ALBERTA, October 5, 2023 - Plug and Play Alberta has announced the 23 startups selected for the fourth cohort of their Sector Agnostic program. The aim of this initiative is to bring global innovation to the region through the expansion of businesses, providing guidance, and facilitating pilots and proof of concepts among selected startups.

Corporate partners will jointly select and guide participating startups in the Sector Agnostic program, including EECOL Electric, TD, WestJet, and Edmonton International Airport. An Advisory Panel has been established to engage with startups during the 3-month program, including representatives such as Faraz Ahmed from TELUS, Cody Verbeek from Servus Credit Union, and Matt Gramblicka from Graham Construction.

"These startups are at the forefront of automation, encompassing areas ranging from enterprise and AI to robotic solutions. We’re looking to foster a multitude of innovative opportunities between these startups and our ecosystem," said Lindsay Smylie, Director of Plug and Play Alberta.

The Plug and Play Sector Agnostic program, brings together players from relevant industries around the world to support the advancement of artificial intelligence and machine learning across diverse fields. Since the launch of Plug and Play Alberta in January of 2022, 54 startups have been accelerated in the Sector Agnostic program, resulting in several new partnerships and business opportunities.

The 3-month program officially launched on September 5th, 2023 and will run until the next Plug and Play Alberta EXPO on November 30th, 2023 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. This EXPO will mark the highly anticipated graduation of Plug and Play’s Fall 2023 cohort.
