Plug and Play Alberta Announces 16 Startups for the Fourth Cohort of its Digital Health Program

CALGARY, ALBERTA, October 5, 2023 - Plug and Play Alberta has announced 16 startups selected for the fourth cohort of their Digital Health program. The aim of this initiative is to bring global innovation to the region through the expansion of businesses, providing guidance, and facilitating pilots and proof of concepts among selected startups.

Corporate partners will jointly select and guide participating startups in the Digital Health program, including Boehringer Ingleheim Canada and Takeda Canada. An Advisory Panel has been established to engage with startups during the 3-month program, including representatives such as Patty Wickson from Alberta Health Services, Sam Koirala from Novartis Canada, Dalton Thibodeau from Bayer Canada, and other representatives from Roche.

"We have a strong lineup of startups joining us for Batch 4 of our Digital Health startup accelerator program," said Lindsay Smylie, Director of Plug and Play Alberta. "These companies are at the forefront of pioneering health technologies, and over the next three months, they’ll be able to collaborate directly with leading health organizations aiming to revolutionize the healthcare sector.”

The Plug and Play Health vertical unites exceptional startups and corporations dedicated to addressing innovation hurdles in industries related to the essential resources that drive, nourish, and house our global community. Since the launch of Plug and Play Alberta in January of 2022, 36 startups have been accelerated in the Digital Health program, resulting in several business opportunities for Albertan, Canadian, and international startups.

The 3-month program officially launched on September 7, 2023 and will run until the Plug and Play Alberta EXPO on November 30th, 2023 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. This EXPO will mark the highly anticipated graduation of Plug and Play’s Fall 2023 cohort.
