Expo Day 2020: Vienna Airport and Value One Receive Plug and Play’s Corporate Innovation Award

VIENNA, AUSTRIA, December 11, 2020 - Plug and Play Austria’s virtual Expo Day was a great success. Over 300 participants from countries all around the world tuned in to watch exciting presentations and discussions on innovative developments in the areas of travel and smart cities.

“Innovation is the engine that drives the world. Covid-19 creates new challenges that have to be met with new and innovative approaches and solutions. This creative potential became visible to everyone on Expo Day - through the exciting discussions by the experts, the presentations by the startups, and the recognition of the innovative achievements of companies,” said Ben Kloss, Director of Plug and Play Austria.

The virtual Expo Day which took place on Thursday, December 10th, 2020 had virtual guests from the USA, South Africa, Singapore, Japan, Thailand, and Central and Eastern Europe. The Expo day featured presentations and discussions with innovation experts from Daimler AG, Star Alliance, Airbus, DB Schenker, The Alliance to End Plastic Waste, Urban Innovation Austria, and Inven Capital on current trends, developments, and future perspectives arising from the Covid-19 pandemic. A total of 30 startups presented their innovative solutions and projects for these subject areas.

The awards for innovative solutions were given out to the following. Flughafen Wien AG from our travel vertical and Value One from our smart cities vertical, were both honored with the Innovation Award for their outstanding commitment to the development of innovative solutions and their active involvement in the startup community. Kiana, Airportr, 4tiitoo and Eliq, all received the coveted Startup Award from Plug and Play.

Renée Wagner, who is the Co-Director and Managing Director that founded the Vienna location of the Californian innovation platform in 2019 and has since successfully developed it, is devoting herself to a new professional challenge. Stefan Jeitler, who is already responsible for European activities at Plug and Play, will take over her role as Managing Director of Plug and Play Austria.
