Gothenburg
Bringing cutting-edge technology for sustainable mobility closer to the dynamic Scandinavian region.
Founding Partner: Volvo Cars
Volvo Cars is one of the automotive industry’s fastest transformers.
They have the ambition to be a fully electric car brand by 2030 and achieve climate-neutrality by 2040.
Volvo Cars knows that this can only be achieved through collaboration across the entire value chain, with established suppliers and disruptive startups.
That is why Volvo Cars is always looking for the next breakthrough that will accelerate their transformation roadmap.
“To stay on top of the transformation needed to achieve our bold ambitions, we’re continually pushing the boundaries of technology... To succeed, we need to work with the best, and partnering with Plug and Play certainly brings us closer to our aspired position.”

Anchor Partner: Port of Gothenburg
The Port of Gothenburg is the largest port in Scandinavia.
Around 30% of Swedish domestic and foreign trade passes through the Port of Gothenburg and over 50% of all container traffic. This is a full-service port that offers industry guaranteed, climate-smart access to the whole world.
Direct services to key markets ensure highly efficient, sustainable, and reliable transport 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The focus is firmly on sustainability, innovation, and digitalization in a concerted effort to maintain the ongoing development of climate-efficient freight transport and calls by vessels.
With over 30 rail shuttles offering daily departures, companies throughout Sweden and Norway have a direct, climate-neutral service to the Port of Gothenburg. The port handles energy products, vehicles, ro-ro units, containers and passengers. 22,000 people are employed at the port.
“We know from experience that we have a lot to gain by taking our expertise, challenges, and
potential solutions to new arenas and exposing them to new thoughts and ideas. There is an important signal value in being involved in this project from the beginning to encourage more to join.”
