Plug and Play Featuring Next-Incubator
The Role of Utilities in Creating Smart Cities
We are excited to invite you to our upcoming innovation day: The Role of Utilities in Creating Smart Cities
According to the UN, by 2050 68% of the world’s population is expected to live in urban areas. Cities already consume over two-thirds of the world's energy and account for more than 70% of global CO2 emissions (C40). The majority of our cities are vulnerable to extreme weather events, triggered by climate change, like sea-level rise, flooding, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc. However, cities are also well positioned to tackle climate change.
Utilities will play a leading role in making our cities smart and sustainable. Knowing the city infrastructure, providing energy, and connecting with the majority of cities' residents, electric utilities can enable technologies to help cities reach net-zero emissions.
During this innovation day, we will be featuring one of the most innovative utilities, Energy Steiermark, and their innovation arm - Next Incubator’s work on enabling smart cities. Join us to learn about 3 emerging technologies in electric mobility, energy and sustainability, and how they create net-zero cities.
