As a new initiative, Plug and Play Japan is planning to conduct regular Global DeepTech Pitch Events: ""Next Level DeepTech"", with purpose to introduce DeepTech startups which has cutting-edge technology in several fields such as Decarbonization, New Materials, Circular Economy, Mobility, Smart Cities, and Health. We believe this pitch opportunity is an important key for DeepTech startups to find collaboration opportunities with industrial players or large corporates globally, in order to further scale-up and be able to solve social and environmental issues.

In this first edition of ""Next Level DeepTech"" event, Plug and Japan is collaborating with SG Innovate (https://www.sginnovate.com/ for more details regarding SG Innovate), the event will feature 6 great startups from Japan & APAC, and will also feature a keynote speaker with topic about Importance and hurdles of cross border collaboration in DeepTech.

Kang Aik Meng

Deputy Director of the Global Innovation Network & Innovation Eco-system Development
Enterprise Singapore

Aik Meng is the Deputy Director of the Global Innovation Network Division in Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG). He oversees part of the Global Innovation Alliance (GIA) initiative anchored by EnterpriseSG, which aims to facilitate the two-way flow of startups and expert knowledge between Singapore and innovation hubs in the Asia Pacific, by the means of acceleration programmes as well as co-innovation programmes. He holds the concurrent appointment as Deputy Director of the Innovation Eco-system Development Division in EnterpriseSG, where he drives open innovation amongst Singapore SMEs via the Open Innovation Network and various open innovation challenges.
Prior to his current position, Aik Meng developed policies to catalyse innovation in the local ecosystem under the Strategy & Policy team (Innovation & Start-ups Group) at SPRING Singapore (before the merger with IE Singapore that birthed EnterpriseSG). He also spent a year at IPI Singapore as a Technical Analyst in the Material & Chemical space before returning to SPRING as the head of the Precision Manufacturing team.
