Aeroporti di Roma, or simply ADR, is Italy's leading airport management company. It operates Rome's two main airports, Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport and Ciampino Airport, which sees millions of passengers fly in and out of the airport each year. To stay ahead of the game, ADR partnered with Plug and Play to boost the development and integration of technology in its airports.

ADR's innovation hub is located at Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport and was inaugurated in October 2022. The hub aims to identify innovative solutions to solve real-world problems that are unique to ADR's airports. An impressive array of high-tech startups, corporations, and research institutions, such as Amazon Web Services, are part of the innovation ecosystem. One of the remarkable innovations that have come out of the ADR's innovation hub is a delivery robot called Ottonomy. The robot is designed to operate autonomously and deliver food and duty-free items to passengers in the airport's boarding areas.

This user-friendly design allows passengers to place orders via a mobile app or tablet installed at the airport, and then the robot does the rest. Implementing Ottonomy in ADR's airports has not only made the passenger's shopping and dining experience more seamless but has also increased efficiency and reduced congestion around the boarding areas. Additionally, ADR, the operator of Rome's Fiumicino and Ciampino airports, implemented Airport AI. The chatbot is designed to assist travelers in navigating their way around the airports. This interactive virtual assistant provides information about services and amenities, flight information, parking guidance, and more. It can be accessed through various platforms including Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, and Skype. ADR's innovation hub is a major step towards making the aviation industry more innovative and efficient.
