New investment: ANAFLASH, Making MCU Sustainable for Edge Computing

By Alireza Masrour Published on July 10, 2023

Plug and Play is happy to invest in ANAFLASH Inc., a cost- and energy-efficient MCU provider for edge computing.

“Plug and Play was seeking companies to accelerate the semiconductor innovation for sustainable edge computing,” said Alireza Masrour, General Partner of Plug and Play Ventures. “ANAFLASH is an NSF-, NASA-, and DoD Air Force-backed promising silicon design technology startup and a natural fit with the theme.”

Traditional computing solutions consume too much power, are expensive, and cannot be deployed in resource-constrained edge devices. Large amounts of data need to be stored and processed efficiently in battery-constrained edge devices such as wearables, mobile phones, sensors, and autonomous vehicles. By combining data storage and processing engine in a cost and energy-effective way, ANAFLASH can improve the battery lifetime of the devices significantly with a smaller budget.

With the rapid emergence of recent Artificial Intelligence, or AI, applications, huge amounts of battery-powered edge devices are expected to run AI applications without resorting to cloud infrastructure. Thus, the cost-effective and power-efficient chipsets that ANAFLASH provides shall play a crucial role in enabling this.
