The University Investment Forum is held every month at the Plug and Play campus and is always accompanied by a complimentary cocktail and networking hour. At these events, start-up companies either formed by current students, graduates or alumni get the opportunity to pitch to a panel of Venture Capitalists or Angel Investors in an Elevator Pitch format. Each start-up gets five minutes to pitch their company to the panel and the panel gets five minutes to engage in Q A with the presenters. As these events are open to the general alumni as well, the audience size typically consists of approximately 90 to 150 Silicon Valley entrepreneurs and investors, staff, and alumni.
This Elevator Pitch style event provides a tremendous amount of value to the venture firms, the audience and especially the start-up companies. The start-up company gets exposure, public speaking practice and feedback from an experienced and wise panel of VC's. It also lets investors gauge their interest in targeting the companies they would continue the conversation with to see a more in depth demo at the startup's booth during the networking event.
