Adopt-a-University for VCs
Plug and Play Tech Center is a community of over 200 startup technology companies. It is the mission of Plug and Play to promote entrepreneurship and help build successful technology companies by exposing the founders to the network of investors, industry expert advisors, and corporate relationships.
Objectives of the Program
The objective is to create a sponsored real estate landing pad for potential university startup companies done as follows:
- Partner and Plug and Play will choose one to three universities that Partner will adopt into this program.
- Plug and Play will allocate fully furnished real estate space at Sunnyvale and call it the "<Partner's Name> Pavilion".
- Jointly Plug and Play and Partner would look at a 100 ideas out of chosen universities annually.
- Do due diligence on 50 of the university startups annually.
- Incubate up to 10 university startups and ultimately invest into 2 of the best companies together.
Company Obligations
By executing this agreement, both parties agree to the following activities:
- Co-host one "Tech Trek" per university per year. This program is designed to provide the potential startups a better understanding of the Silicon Valley ecosystem.
- Co-host alumni networking events to strengthen the relationship with the university.
- Identify champions within the university community, including the Deans of the Engineering and Business Schools, President of the Entrepreneur Club, and manager of the business plan competitions.
- Co-host two "Investment Forums" per university per year.
The conditions of the "<Partner's Name> Pavilion" are as follows:
- 2 cubicles per university, accommodating up to 2 companies (or 4 people)
- The number of cubicles will depend on the actual number of universities which Partner decides to adopt for this program
- Each startup company will be given a maximum stay of 6 months with free rent inside the pavilion
