SUNNYVALE, CA, September 10, 2020 - Litterati announced today their ALL_TOGETHER GLOBAL CLEANUP initiative in honor of Global Cleanup Day. A global cleanup campaign that will run from September 19th to October 4th and work towards their goal of a litter-free world. “Even with the challenges presented from the COVID-19 pandemic, we have kept moving forward with our focus on sustainability and ending plastic waste. As part of our initiative, we have connected Litterati, one of the startups who participated in Batch 1 of our Silicon Valley End Plastic Waste Program, and the Alliance to End Plastic Waste to launch this cleanup campaign” said Saeed Amidi Founder and CEO of Plug and Play. “I encourage our employees, partners, and startups to join the ALL_TOGETHER GLOBAL CLEANUP so together we can create a bigger impact.”

Litter has begun to damage our environment. It’s time for companies and organizations to step up. Litterati and the Alliance’s campaign, ALL_TOGETHER GLOBAL CLEANUP, is igniting a fire in our communities to do something about the millions of pounds of plastic wasted each year.

The Litterati app allows for people to upload geo-tagged photos of the litter they have picked up, which will give Litterati concrete data to help make a lasting impact in the environment through consumer behavioral shifts to packaging on the corporate level. All participants in the cleanup challenge will use the LItterati app to take and upload pictures of the collected litter which will measure and track participation and impact. The campaign will run for two weeks starting on World Cleanup Day 2020.

“The scale of the global litter challenge can feel daunting, but growing participation in World Cleanup Day has demonstrated that individuals are eager to do their part,” said Jacob Duer, President and CEO, Alliance to End Plastic Waste. “Through the ALL_TOGETHER GLOBAL CLEANUP, the Alliance and our members are determined to further reduce litter in our mission to end plastic waste in the environment.”

TED-Ed is supporting these efforts by creating video-based lessons, available for free, to address the issues surrounding litter in the environment.
