JAIC America is a venture capital firm based in the Silicon Valley, focused on early stage investments in the Mobile/Communications, Digital Media, Life Science and Cleantech sectors.
We are part of Japan Asia Investment Co. (JAIC) group, a premier venture capital and private equity firm listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange with $1.3 Billion assets under management. JAIC America was established in January 1999 and since then we have actively invested in the US. We have successfully created several US-Japan cross-border business models and have the know-how to bring US technologies, services, and business models to Japan. We try to keep the right "management team - investor" balance to engender a productive outcome - we know when we add value and when we impede progress.
In 2009, we created a new, early stage fund - JAIC Open Innovation Fund (JAIC OIF) - to invest in the IT and Cleantech sectors in US and Japan. The fund's IT focus is consumer and enterprise software, services and appliances, and in Cleantech, the fund focuses on materials in the energy efficiency, energy storage and water treatment sectors.
