Demo'08
DEMOFall 2008 conference, September 15, 2008

Plug and Play Tech Center team visited DEMOFall 2008 conference

Our team consisting of Kayvan Baroumand (COO), Candace Denton (Corporate Development) and Olga Grigoryeva (Business Relationship Manager) all attended the 3 day DEMOFall 2008 conference, which took place in the San Diego Sheraton Marina hotel. Plug and Play Tech Center was a platinum sponsor for the DEMO this fall 2008 and had two companies that are currently hosted at Plug and Play represented (Koollage and Yubico). It was a great experience, and a start of our future partnership together with IDG and DEMO.

Koollage one of the growing companies within Plug and Play, presented on stage and had a booth at the DEMO pavilion. Koollage provides an instant and easy way for anyone - consumers, businesses and brands to aggregate, package, publish and distribute mixed, multimedia content. Users can combine video, images, audio, rss feeds, web pages and text to create a compact, pocket-sized, media-rich Package On Demand (POD). PODs can be created, viewed and shared on the web and mobile devices like the iPhone.

Plug and Play is also proud to showcase one of its shining stars: Yubico offering the YubiKey, an easy-to-use security key for access to networks and services, offered with open source software. Internet identity fraud is the fastest growing crime, seriously affecting the trust for the net. YubiKey solves this problem with the most simple and cost effective solution on the market.

Palo Alto, CA- Plug and Play Tech Center is opening a new start-up facility in Palo Alto, CA. The 10,000 square foot building located at 530 University Ave is owned by the Amidi group which is well known for the "Good Karma" building at 165 University Ave, which housed such well known start-ups as Google, PayPal, and Danger.

With the early success of the Plug and Play Tech Center concept in Sunnyvale, CA, the Amidi group has decided to open up two more facilities in the heart of Silicon Valley. The first one is at 530 University Ave, Palo Alto, CA and the second at 370 Convention Way, Redwood City, CA, conveniently located off the 101 Freeway.

The Plug and Play concept was first introduced in 2006. Over 150 start-up companies are located at the Plug and Play Tech Center Sunnyvale location. The start-ups range in size from 1 to 50 people. Besides flexible office leasing, Plug and Play offers its entrepreneur community access to top tier Venture Capital partners, as well as their own funding arm, Amizad Investments. Plug and Play's strategic partnerships in the high-tech, legal and banking industries also offer their entrepreneur community unparalleled access to these industry giants.

"They really get the way Silicon Valley works." says Ron Conway, an angel founder that has participated in many deals with the Amidi family through Amizad investments.

The three Plug and Play Tech Center locations offer a hub where start-ups can network, and take advantage of the partnerships and relationships Plug and Play has championed to help their entrepreneurs build great companies. With some of the "Good Karma" coming from up the street Plug and Play Palo Alto is looking to add to the list of successful start-ups that turned into great companies.
