Expansion of the Plug and Play Tech Center to Southern California is necessary to bridge Hollywood studios and Los Angeles area startups with the Silicon Valley. Digital media is transforming from traditional viewing methods to internet based entertainment with personalized channels. (Facebook, MySpace, Hulu, Youtube, VUDU, MyWaves, Songbird, etc.) Therefore a connection with technology companies and venture capital funding is necessary to evolve these companies by bridging the gap between media content and technology. Plug and Play Tech Center is home to 250 startups, 50 venture capital relationships, corporate relationships, strategic partnerships, university relationships, and international relationships. The Silicon Valley based Plug and Play Tech Center is now expanding its ecosystem to the Los Angeles area with three facilities in addition to the three existing Silicon Valley facilities.
Plug and Play's goal is to become the leading accelerator in Southern California by expanding its footprint from three locations in Silicon Valley with three additional locations in the Los Angeles area.
This goal will be accomplished with sixty technology tenants by the end of 2009.
Plug and Play's mission is to create the best micro ecosystem for entrepreneurs and startup technology companies to accelerate their success. Plug and Play strives for the advancement of innovation through the promotion of entrepreneurship and technology.
